AsylumNet was
started by a group of friends in the summer of 1997. We wanted a place where we
could chat in peace, and take care of any users who would be disruptive. We had
often found that on other networks, the power-hungry staff did not want to be
bothered by us mere mortals, and were unwilling to help in channel takeovers,
flooding, nuking, and other similar cases. This really frustrated us; AsylumNet
was to be the complete opposite.
All users would be welcome to the new network, but those who would choose only
to disrupt it, would be removed. We would ensure that we remained focused on
providing a friendly, helpful service, irrespective of the number of users.
This network has always been focused on quality and not quantity - while new
users are very welcome, and are encouraged to join in, the existing users' needs
are taken care of to the very best of our abilities. In fact, we have gone out
of our way to accommodate users with different needs on several occasions, and
have implemented frequent improvements to our services, many of which have been
suggested by users.
If you're looking for a small network, with minimal netsplits
and lag, with a friendly environment and helpful, accessible staff, then we
think you'll be pleased to join AsylumNet. Connect now using your IRC
client, or use our Web Chat facility.
